Introduction

This winter melon vase features a plump, rounded belly paired with a glossy bright-red straight neck. Its body is coated in rich scarlet glaze, transitioning into dark emerald kiln transformation glaze at the base. The surface is fully hand-painted with red-crowned cranes, golden rice ears and yellow lotus blossoms, forming a striking, bold and grand colour contrast.
Crafted in Jingdezhen from high-temperature ceramic bodies, the piece is first fired with an all-over scarlet glaze base. Fine layered overglaze new colours are then used to hand-paint detailed flowers, birds and rice ears, complemented by natural kiln transformation textures on the bottom. Multiple repeated kiln firings create this ornate decorative high-end national porcelain gift ware.

Red-crowned cranes symbolise longevity; rice ears represent abundant harvests year after year; lotus flowers stand for harmony and bliss. The scarlet base evokes prosperity for family and nation alike. As a state ceremonial porcelain gift, it embodies auspicious wishes for longevity, wealth, national peace and universal harmony.
