Call for Entries: The 9th “CHINA · China” (Liling) Ceramic Art and Design Competition

To promote innovation in the ceramic industry, the 9th “CHINA · China” (Liling) Ceramic Art and Design Competition is now officially accepting entries. The competition aims to bring traditional ceramic culture, modern creative design, and advanced technology together while discovering outstanding design talent and supporting the continued development of the ceramic industry.
The event is jointly organized by the China Building Ceramics & Sanitaryware Association, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Hunan University of Technology, and the Liling Municipal People’s Government.

About the “CHINA · China” Ceramic Art and Design Competition
The “CHINA · China” Ceramic Art and Design Competition is one of China’s leading professional ceramic design events and has gained recognition both at home and abroad. After eight successful editions, it has developed a well-established competition system and a strong reputation within the ceramic industry.
The competition focuses on innovative ceramic design and the preservation of traditional culture. It brings together high-quality industry resources from China and other countries to support the creative transformation and modernization of the traditional ceramic industry.
The event also places strong emphasis on protecting original designs and turning outstanding concepts into market-ready products. It promotes cooperation between the ceramic, cultural, and tourism industries, giving ceramic artists and designers a professional platform to showcase their talent, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.
At the same time, the competition continues to identify and support promising creative professionals, contributing to the innovative and high-quality development of the ceramic industry.

Competition Themes and Creative Directions
The competition offers entrants considerable creative freedom. Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from Hunan culture, regional landscapes, revolutionary heritage, and other meaningful cultural or natural elements.
Entries are mainly divided into two categories, each with a different creative focus.
Innovative Art Ceramic Design
This category welcomes original works of contemporary ceramic art, including:
- Contemporary ceramic artworks
- Ceramic sculptures
- Ceramic paintings
- Mixed ceramic decoration
- Other forms of purely artistic ceramic creation
Entries should demonstrate originality, conceptual depth, artistic expression, and a distinctive personal style.
Innovative Cultural and Creative Ceramic Design
This category focuses on combining practical function with visual appeal. Entries should be suitable for everyday life, work, leisure, or other real-world applications while maintaining strong artistic and cultural value.
Designers are encouraged to explore how ceramics can become more relevant to modern lifestyles through improved function, creative form, cultural storytelling, and innovative production methods.

Awards and Prize Money
The competition offers substantial prize money and professionally recognized awards. All prize amounts are stated before tax. Every award-winning and shortlisted entry will receive an official certificate issued by the competition organizers.

Both individuals and eligible creative teams are encouraged to submit original ceramic design work in accordance with the official competition requirements.
Important Dates
Online registration officially opened on March 18, 2026.
The deadline for online submissions is August 20, 2026. Entries submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
The award ceremony is tentatively scheduled for late September 2026.
Participants should allow enough time to prepare their application materials and upload all required files before the submission system closes.
Submission Requirements
Each participant must prepare the following digital materials:

All files should be named using the following format:
Author’s Name + Region
Images must be submitted in JPG format. Each image should be between 1 MB and 5 MB. Photographs must be clear and should accurately show the overall design, materials, surface details, decoration, and craftsmanship of the entry.
All required materials must be uploaded to the official preliminary evaluation system.

Evaluation and Competition Contact
Entries will be reviewed by the competition’s judging panel in accordance with the official evaluation procedures and competition rules.

Originality, Intellectual Property, and Participant Responsibilities
All submitted entries must be original works created by the participants. Plagiarism, unauthorized copying, or the misuse of another person’s intellectual property is strictly prohibited.
If a violation is confirmed, the entrant will immediately lose the right to participate in the competition or exhibition. If the entry has already received an award, the certificate and prize money will be withdrawn, and the entrant may be added to the competition’s list of untrustworthy participants.
The creator will be solely responsible for any legal consequences resulting from copyright infringement or other violations.
By submitting an entry, participants confirm that they voluntarily accept all competition rules, requirements, and terms.
To maintain the quality and professional standards of the event, the organizing committee reserves the right to adjust certain awards or leave an award vacant when no entry meets the required standard. The organizing committee retains the right of final interpretation regarding any matters not specifically covered in the published competition rules.
