Our Company Joins Hands with Jingdezhen Ceramic University to Successfully Launch the “Natural Glaze Color” Monochrome Glaze Achievement Exhibition

To deepen cooperation in the inheritance and innovation of ceramic culture and empower the cultivation of traditional ceramic talents as well as the high-quality development of the industry, Professor Yan Fei, our company’s expert consultant and Executive Vice Dean of the Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture at Jingdezhen Ceramic University, was recently invited to attend the opening ceremony of the“Natural Glaze Color” Monochrome Glaze Ceramic Education Project Achievement Exhibition. Taking this event as a link, our company has deeply witnessed the achievements of school-enterprise collaborative education, and joined hands with Jingdezhen Ceramic University to explore new paths for the living inheritance and innovative development of traditional ceramic craftsmanship.

Co-hosted by the School of Design and Art, the University Education Foundation, and the Advanced Research Institute of Ceramic Culture of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, and undertaken jointly by the Department of Ceramic Art and Design and the China Ceramic Culture Research Institute, the exhibition presents the phased achievements in monochrome glaze ceramic teaching research and teacher-student creative practice since the project was approved at the end of 2023. It fully demonstrates the university’s profound strength and fruitful achievements in inheriting traditional ceramic culture and cultivating innovative ceramic talents.

The opening ceremony gathered a professional and distinguished lineup of guests, including Professor Yu Jianfeng, Dean of the School of Design and Art, Professor Zou Xiaosong, Project Leader, Zhang Zhicheng, Chairman of the University Education Foundation, as well as the college’s Deputy Party Secretary, vice deans of various departments, person in charge of the research institute, and teacher and student representatives. Hosted by Associate Professor Wang Hao, Director of the Department of Ceramic Art and Design, the opening ceremony featured a strong academic atmosphere, fully reflecting the rigorous academic attitude and innovative vitality of the university in professional ceramic education.

Jingdezhen Ceramic University launched the special monochrome glaze ceramic education project at the end of 2023, which also serves as a core project for our in-depth school-enterprise cooperation and joint talent training platform construction. Rooted in traditional ceramic culture and aligned with the development needs of innovative ceramic design, the project builds a hierarchical and systematic education system for undergraduate and postgraduate students. By integrating high-quality teaching resources, it establishes a training platform integrating practical training, academic research and competition promotion, focusing on improving students’ capabilities in monochrome glaze creation and innovation, and boosting the living inheritance of traditional ceramic craftsmanship.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Zou Xiaosong gave a detailed introduction to the project progress. Since its implementation, the project has held more than ten special promotion meetings and academic lectures, helping teachers and students build a complete theoretical system of monochrome glaze and solidify the foundation of craft creation. Based on contemporary aesthetic standards and practical living needs, teachers and students have focused on innovations in glaze materials, craftsmanship and vessel shapes, creating a number of ceramic works that inherit traditional essence and embody contemporary characteristics, highlighting the creative vitality and cultural responsibility of young students.

In his speech, Zhang Zhicheng stated that monochrome glaze is the core essence of Chinese ceramic aesthetics and a key research direction of the characteristic disciplines of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. Gathering the efforts of teachers and students to conduct in-depth research and creation on monochrome glaze, the project promotes the organic integration of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics, serving as a vivid practice of the university’s cultural education and characteristic schooling. The multi-party collaborative education model effectively breaks the barriers between teaching, scientific research and practice, setting a fine example for the standardized and brand-oriented development of social donation-based education projects in Jingdezhen Ceramic University.
Centered on the theme Glaze Born Naturally, the exhibition sorts out the developmental lineage of monochrome glaze ceramics dating back to the Song Dynasty. While reviewing the thousand-year cultural heritage of ceramic glazes, it actively explores modern innovative paths for traditional craftsmanship. Exhibits fall into two major categories: daily-use ceramics and decorative display ceramics, fully presenting experimental achievements of young creators in glaze formulation, kiln transformation control and vessel design, which intuitively reflect the tangible outcomes of the program’s talent cultivation. The exhibition will remain open until June 30 for all faculty, students and the general public. Enthusiasts from all walks of life are welcome to visit and exchange ideas.
In the future, our company will continue to deepen strategic school-enterprise cooperation with Jingdezhen Ceramic University. Relying on the professional academic resources of Professor Yan Fei and the university’s high-quality discipline platform, we will keep focusing on core fields including the inheritance of traditional ceramic craftsmanship, innovative talent training and ceramic culture communication. Through in-depth integration of industry, education and research, we will empower the innovative development of the ceramic industry and help the millennium-old ceramic culture glow with new vitality in the new era.
